How the silver rate in India is set
India imports almost all of the silver it consumes, so the domestic rate starts from the international spot price in dollars per troy ounce, converts at the rupee exchange rate, and then adds import duty, GST and the local dealer's spread. A move in the dollar price and a move in the rupee can therefore pull the Indian rate in opposite directions on the same day.
Silver is also an industrial metal in a way gold is not: roughly half of global demand comes from solar panels, electrical contacts, brazing alloys and electronics. That ties silver to the manufacturing cycle, and it is the main reason silver's daily percentage swings are usually wider than gold's even when the two are moving the same way.

Questions, answered
Silver rate today in India — common questions
What is the silver rate today in India?
999 fine silver is ₹2,22,820 per kilogram as of 13 October 2026 at 20:48 IST, on All India Bullion's Mumbai (Zaveri Bazar) benchmark. That is ₹223 per gram and ₹2,228 per 10 grams. City rates vary a little around this benchmark; this page links the live rate for 679 Indian cities.
What is the 1 kg silver price today?
1 kg of 999 silver is ₹2,22,820 as of 13 October 2026 at 20:48 IST. The kilo bar is India's standard silver trading unit, so "silver rate" quoted without a unit almost always means the per-kilogram price.
What is the gold-silver ratio today?
The gold-silver ratio is 67.0 to 1 as of 13 October 2026 at 20:48 IST, calculated from All India Bullion's own 999 gold and 999 silver reference rates: one gram of gold costs about as much as 67.0 grams of silver.
Why does silver move more than gold on the same day?
The silver market is far smaller than the gold market in value terms, so the same amount of buying or selling moves the price further. About half of silver demand is industrial — solar panels, electronics, brazing — which ties it to the economic cycle in a way gold is not. Gold's demand is mostly monetary and jewellery, which is steadier.
Is the silver rate the same across India?
Close, but not identical. The metal is the same and GST is 3% nationwide, so the differences are local: dealer spreads, and the freight and insurance cost of moving a bulky metal into that market. Those gaps are usually a few hundred rupees per kilogram, which is why this site publishes a per-city rate rather than one national number.
