Gold & Silver Rate Methodology

Last updated:

All India Bullion publishes city-specific gold, silver and bullion reference rates to help readers compare market metal values across India. This page explains what those figures mean and what they do not mean.

Our data source

AIB's rate data is collected, maintained and distributed through our in-house market-data system. It is designed to publish the latest available city-level bullion reference snapshot to the relevant rate page. We do not describe this system as an exchange, a government benchmark or a third-party dealer quote.

What AIB publishes

Rate pages show the latest available snapshot from AIB's in-house market-data system for the selected city. Where supplied by the feed, pages identify the purity and unit, including 24K/999 and 22K gold per gram or 10 grams, and 999 silver per kilogram.

City specificity and timestamps

A city page is a local bullion reference page, not a generic national estimate. Each page displays the latest available feed-update time. If a valid current snapshot is unavailable, AIB labels the quote as pending instead of presenting a fabricated live value.

Quality controls

We monitor feed availability and preserve the supplied market timestamp with a rate snapshot. AIB does not intentionally substitute an estimated or zero value for a missing live quote. Readers can report a suspected issue with the city, page URL, observed time and supporting detail for review.

How to use a rate

Use the rate as a market reference and always retain the displayed purity, weight and update time when comparing sources. Gold and silver can move during the day. Local market spreads may also differ from one city to another.

Important limitations

AIB rates are indicative bullion reference rates. They are not a binding offer to buy or sell, investment advice, or a final jewellery invoice. A jewellery transaction can additionally include making charges, wastage, applicable taxes and seller-specific charges. Confirm the final quote and all charges with the counterparty before transacting.
