MCX gold and the bullion rate

MCX — the Multi Commodity Exchange of India — is where Indian gold futures trade, and it is the price-setting venue most domestic bullion dealing references through the day. The rate shown above is All India Bullion's own Mumbai reference for 999 fine gold, quoted in rupees per 10 grams before GST, and it moves with the exchange as the session runs.

Because the contract is settled in India and priced in rupees, it carries both of the things that move the Indian gold price: the international dollar price of gold, and the rupee. A weakening rupee can push the domestic rate up on a day when dollar gold has not moved at all — which is why traders watch it alongside XAUUSD spot gold.

Two things to keep in mind when comparing this number with a jeweller's. It is a metal rate before 3% GST and before any making charges, and it is quoted for 999 metal, while exchange delivery is at a 995 minimum and most jewellery is 22K. Thecity-wise rate pagescarry the same figures broken out by purity and by city.

Questions, answered

MCX gold rate — common questions

What is the MCX gold rate today?

Gold is ₹1,49,193 per 10 grams at 999 fineness as of 13 October 2026 at 21:28 IST, which works out to ₹14,919 per gram. This is All India Bullion's Mumbai (Zaveri Bazar) reference rate, quoted before 3% GST. Indian bullion rates move with the MCX gold contract through the day, which is why the two track each other closely.

What is MCX gold?

MCX is the Multi Commodity Exchange of India, where gold futures are traded. A futures contract is an agreement to exchange gold at a set price on a set expiry date, and most positions are closed out before expiry rather than delivered. Because the contract is settled in India and priced in rupees, it already carries both of the things that move the Indian gold price: the international dollar price of gold, and the rupee exchange rate.

What time does MCX gold trade?

MCX bullion trades 9:00 AM to 11:30 PM IST (11:55 PM when US markets are on daylight saving time), Monday to Friday. The late close exists because Indian precious-metal futures track COMEX in the US, so the session has to stay open across the American trading day — which is also why the closing time shifts by 25 minutes when the US moves on and off daylight saving.

What is the lot size of MCX gold?

The main Gold contract is 1 kg. MCX also lists Gold Mini at 100 grams, Gold Guinea at 8 grams and Gold Petal at 1 gram, so a position can be sized to the capital available. All four settle against gold of 995 minimum fineness, which is the exchange's delivery standard — the retail bullion rate on this page is quoted for 999 metal.

Does the gold rate include GST?

No. The rate on this page is the metal reference rate before tax. A physical purchase adds 3% GST on the metal, and a finished ornament adds making charges on top of that — taxed at 5% separately — which is why a jeweller's final bill is always above any screen price.

What is the 22 carat gold rate today?

22K (916 fineness) gold is ₹1,36,798 per 10 grams as of 13 October 2026 at 21:28 IST, or ₹13,680 per gram, derived from the 999 reference rate. 22K is the purity most Indian jewellery is made in.

Can I buy physical gold at the MCX rate?

Not from the exchange — MCX is a futures market, and taking delivery there requires an approved commodity trading account and a full lot. What All India Bullion sells is physical gold coins and bars priced off the live bullion rate, with GST included and insured delivery.
