Gold Futures — frequently asked questions
Why do Indian gold futures differ from the international gold price?
Indian gold futures are quoted in rupees per 10 grams and include import-duty effects, so they reflect both the dollar gold price and the rupee exchange rate. A falling rupee can lift the domestic price even when dollar gold is flat.
Are gold futures the same as the city bullion rate?
No. Futures and physical city bullion are different references. The city rate can add local dealer spread and delivery cost, which is why it differs from the futures price.
