What is the difference between 18 carat and 24 carat gold?
24 carat is pure gold (99.9% or better). 18 carat is 75% gold, mixed with other metals for strength, so its rate is 75% of the pure-gold rate. Coins and bars are usually 24 carat; jewellery is usually 18 or 22 carat.
What does 750 mean on gold?
750 is the gold content in parts per thousand: 750 gold is 75% pure, which is 18 carat. The BIS hallmark grade for it is 18K750.
Why is my jeweller's 18 carat price higher than this rate?
